Gauss 2 arrives as a multimodal model with a distinctive ability to handle multiple types of data, including text, programming, and images. This model is designed to meet various needs through three unique editions:

•Compact Model: Specially designed to operate efficiently even in resource-constrained environments. This model delivers optimal performance by making the maximum possible use of device capabilities.

•Balanced Model: Focuses on achieving a balance between performance, speed, and efficiency, making it a versatile choice.

•Supreme Model: Utilizes advanced technology known as “Mixture of Experts,” which reduces training and operational costs while maintaining high levels of performance and efficiency.

Gauss 2 supports from 9 to 14 different languages, alongside multiple programming languages, making it a comprehensive and versatile model. To ensure maximum efficiency, Samsung adopted advanced quantization techniques during training and developed a custom encryption system that increases operational efficiency.

Widespread Applications Within Samsung

Samsung noted that Gauss 2 plays a pivotal role in improving productivity within the company. For example, the “code.i” tool, powered by Gauss 2, is used to facilitate programming processes for developers in the Device Experience division. Since its launch last December, its usage rate has seen a sharp increase, with approximately 60% of the company’s developers now relying on it.

The Gauss Portal platform is also a prominent application of this model, helping employees execute office tasks such as document summarization, text translation, and email drafting. This service was expanded to include the company’s overseas branches starting in April 2024. Additionally, Gauss 2 has begun being deployed in call centers to automatically classify and summarize phone calls, thereby enhancing customer service efficiency.

Samsung’s Future Vision

Samsung affirmed its commitment to developing artificial intelligence technologies to improve the user experience and boost productivity. Jeon Kyung-hoon, head of Samsung Research, explained that the company aims to integrate Gauss 2 into its future products to deliver higher levels of convenience and personalization.
