Lockheed Martin has announced the creation of a new subsidiary named “Astris AI,” aimed at accelerating the adoption of artificial intelligence solutions. This strategic move enhances AI capabilities across the US defense industrial base and commercial sectors that require the highest levels of security.
The launch of “Astris AI” reflects Lockheed Martin’s substantial investments in artificial intelligence and machine learning. The new subsidiary will provide access to Lockheed Martin’s proprietary AI Factory Machine Learning Operations (MLOps) platform and generative artificial intelligence platforms. These tools are designed with security and compliance in mind to meet the needs of organizations operating in highly regulated environments.
“Astris AI” aims to address the challenges faced by various sectors when scaling AI solutions, particularly regarding reliability, cost, and deployment speed. The company adopts an open-architecture approach that enables modular and adaptable solutions, helping clients maintain their competitiveness amid rapid technological evolution. The platform’s flexibility delivers significant technological and financial advantages to customers.
In addition to technology, “Astris AI” offers comprehensive engineering consulting services, including AI strategy development, implementation, training, and large-scale model deployment. The goal is to empower organizations to independently manage their artificial intelligence tools, solutions, and data while maintaining security and flexibility.
The global market suffers from a shortage of skilled AI specialists, a major obstacle for companies wishing to implement advanced intelligence technologies. “Astris AI” seeks to bridge this gap through a dedicated team of Lockheed Martin AI engineers. These experts will provide technical and advisory support along with specialized industry expertise to accelerate AI adoption.
The subsidiary will leverage Lockheed Martin’s “AI Factory” ecosystem, led by a select group of experienced professionals. In this context, Greg Forrest, foundational AI director, emphasized: “Lockheed Martin has made significant progress in artificial intelligence and machine learning, and we are excited to apply these advancements to support our customers and strengthen the defense industrial base.”
Donna O’Donnell, chief revenue officer at “Astris AI,” brings extensive experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and automation. She previously held senior leadership positions at Xerox and other technology companies, making her well-equipped to lead the new company’s growth. O’Donnell stated: “By combining Lockheed Martin’s expertise with Astris AI’s agile approach, we empower organizations to navigate the complexities of the evolving technological landscape.”
