Specialized platforms for sensitive professional sectors

Google Cloud, a subsidiary of Alphabet, announced on Tuesday the launch of two new AI platforms targeted at specific sectors: Gemini Enterprise for Legal Affairs and Gemini Enterprise for Financial Services. This move represents the company’s strongest, most direct push yet into high-end professional sectors experiencing unprecedented acceleration in demand for specialized generative AI tools.

This step comes in response to fundamental shifts in the working methods of major legal and banking institutions, which are increasingly seeking solutions that go beyond general chatbots and offer agentic capabilities trained on regulatory standards, strict compliance, and precise reference verification, while ensuring the highest degrees of security and customer data confidentiality.

Gemini platform for legal institutions and corporations

Gemini Enterprise for Legal Affairs was designed as an integrated agentic ecosystem aimed at automating complex workflows in international law firms and corporate legal departments. The platform is equipped with specialized skills built specifically for tasks such as contract review and auditing, automated verification of court citations and legal references, prospective scanning for regulatory changes, fulfilling data subject access requests for personal records, and providing secure connectors with major legal software systems.

The initial list of clients and partners includes elite global law firms such as Cleary Gottlieb, Freshfields, Weil, and Williams & Connolly. The platform also integrates with Thomson Reuters, Harvey, LexisNexis, DocuSign, iManage, RelativityOne, Everlaw, and the CourtListener database from the Free Law Project, alongside global consulting firms such as Accenture, Deloitte, and KPMG serving as systems integration partners.

Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, emphasized that the platform “helps manage the complex realities of modern legal work while providing crucial referencing and governance capabilities that allow teams to focus with absolute confidence on delivering strategic advice to clients.” Meanwhile, Jeff Karpf, managing partner at Cleary, noted that the collaboration with Google allows his firm to co-create tools useful for law firms, while Jonathan Soler, co-managing partner at Weil, told Reuters that clients increasingly expect their lawyers to use artificial intelligence and benefit from its operational efficiency.

Financial services solutions and bank partnerships

On the parallel financial front, the financial services release offers a fully managed financial research and analytics agent by Google, alongside more than 50 specialized skills tailored for capital markets and corporate banking, as well as certified enterprise data connectors. CME Group and Deutsche Bank are already using the platform, with Deutsche Bank serving as a key design partner for the financial research agent.

Moody’s Ratings also announced on Tuesday that it is making its global research and credit ratings available directly within the platform through its Credit Model Context Protocol server, while GFT Technologies has joined as a launch partner to provide AI modernization and digital transformation services for banking institutions.

Fast-paced market and intense competition among giants

These launches come at a time of intensifying competition in the professional specialized AI sector. On Monday, Thomson Reuters rolled out its proprietary language model, Thomson 1.0, trained on its legal research content at a very low cost compared to leading models, while Anthropic launched its dedicated Claude for Legal platform, and OpenAI continues to develop features geared toward the legal field. Both Gemini Enterprise versions are currently available in preview, with features and capabilities rolling out gradually to enterprise customers in the coming weeks.
